HEAVY-DUTY ENGINE REPAIR

Diesel Engine Service

FIND THE PROBLEM.

REPAIR WHAT THE ENGINE NEEDS.

ENGINE DIAGNOSTICS AND REPAIR FOR COMMERCIAL TRUCKS, SEMIS AND BUSES

Power loss, abnormal smoke, unusual noise, fluid consumption and difficult starting can indicate a problem within the engine or one of its supporting systems.

Bo’s Garage provides heavy-duty engine diagnostics and repair for Class 6, 7 and 8 trucks, semis and select charter or tour buses. We work with CAT, Cummins, Detroit Diesel, Mack, International, Volvo and Paccar engines.

We evaluate the symptoms and engine condition to determine whether a targeted repair can correct the problem or more extensive engine work should be considered.

Why Diagnosis Comes First

NOT EVERY ENGINE PROBLEM REQUIRES A COMPLETE REBUILD

DETERMINE WHERE THE PROBLEM BEGINS BEFORE REPLACING MAJOR COMPONENTS

Many engine symptoms can originate in more than one system. A loss of power, for example, may be caused by a fuel-delivery problem, restricted airflow, an electronic fault or internal engine wear.

Reviewing the symptoms, checking related systems and evaluating engine condition helps narrow down the cause.

The findings allow us to recommend a component-level repair when appropriate—or explain when engine rebuilding or additional machine work should be considered.

ENGINE WARNING SIGNS

Loss of power or reduced performance
Hard starting or a no-start condition
Rough idle or inconsistent operation
Excessive or abnormal exhaust smoke
Knocking, tapping or unusual engine noise
Low engine-oil pressure
Oil or coolant consumption

Recurring warning lights or fault codes
Our Process

FROM ENGINE CONCERN TO REPAIR PLAN

A SYSTEMATIC APPROACH BASED ON SYMPTOMS, TESTING AND ENGINE CONDITION
1

REVIEW THE SYMPTOMS

We discuss the performance problem, when it occurs and any recent repairs or changes in operation.

2

INSPECT & DIAGNOSE

The engine and applicable supporting systems are inspected and tested to locate the likely cause.

3

DETERMINE THE REPAIR SCOPE

We review the findings and explain whether targeted repair, additional testing or more extensive engine work is recommended.

4

REPAIR & VERIFY

Approved repairs are completed, followed by the appropriate operating checks.

Repair or Rebuild?

THE CONDITION OF THE ENGINE DETERMINES THE RIGHT PATH

STRAIGHT ANSWERS BASED ON WHAT THE INSPECTION REVEALS

A component-level repair may be appropriate when the problem is isolated and the remaining engine components are in serviceable condition.

When wear or damage affects multiple internal components, continuing with individual repairs may not provide the most practical long-term solution. In those cases, we can discuss diesel engine rebuilding and the machine work required for the engine.

Bo’s Garage performs counter bore machining at our Thomasville shop and on location when required as part of an applicable engine rebuild.
